This year, ASEAN Vocational and Engineering Camp 2017 was held from 16 – 23 July, 2017 at Universiti Tun Hussien Onn Malaysia, Johor, Malaysia. The theme for this year was “Toward Schools 4.0”. The objectives of the camp were to enhance creativity and convergence in engineering students through technology design projects. The camp helped motivate and inspire young ASEAN engineers through exposure to design thinking, as well as generate good cooperation between ASEAN countries. The camp also allowed the participants to practice using IoT (Internet of Things) which will help engineering students solve problems in various contexts, a knowledge which is transferable to other fields. Also, students had a chance to explore Johor city and Malacca with their buddies as well as exchange their culture.
There were 22 universities from ASEAN participated in this camp; Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, University of Phayao, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, National Politechnic Institute of Cambodia, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, Universitas Negeri Padang, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Kunming University, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Universitas Negeri Mslsng, Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia and many local universities.
